Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas has been named a Workforce Innovation Fund grantee during the 2025 Texas Workforce Commission Annual Conference. The Workforce Innovation Fund supports new and forward-thinking workforce development projects designed and led by local Workforce Development Boards to address critical labor market challenges. Through this grant, Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas will implement two innovative regional events aimed at expanding opportunity, reducing barriers to employment, and strengthening the alignment between education and local industry needs. Together, these initiatives reflect a proactive approach to building a stronger, more inclusive workforce for Northeast Texas. Event 1: THRIVE – Turning Hiring Risks into Valued Employees The first initiative, THRIVE, focuses on supporting successful reentry for individuals with justice-involved backgrounds by strengthening connections between employers and this often-overlooked talent pool. Employers across the region will be invited to participate in a conference designed to explore the benefits of second-chance hiring and strategies for long-term employment success. Through THRIVE, employers will gain practical tools and insights to turn perceived hiring risks into opportunities for both business growth and community impact. Event 2: Classrooms to Careers (CTC) The second event, Classrooms to Careers (CTC), is designed for educators, counselors, and administrators who play a critical role in preparing students for the workforce. This convening will connect school personnel with workforce programs, services, and resources available through Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas and its partners, while fostering direct engagement with local employers. By strengthening collaboration between education and industry, the CTC event will help build a workforce pipeline that is responsive to regional labor market needs and aligned with students’ career aspirations.
These two initiatives build upon Workforce Solutions Northeast Texas’ ongoing efforts to support justice-involved individuals and prepare students for career success. By emphasizing awareness, collaboration, and practical solutions, the Workforce Innovation Fund project creates new pathways for underutilized talent and helps ensure that the region’s future workforce is equipped to meet employer demand. |
